There is also another date visible in red ink that reads "10." A pencil and eraser are sticking up through the top of the box, suggesting they were used for writing or drawing inside the cardboard container before it was opened. The character's face isn't fully shown but seems to be smiling with a playful expression while holding onto the calendar page.
